Accutrack Software in Cell acted on its own.

Post by zac123 »

I took my son in the car on his paper route and made 8 software sends with my cell phone. I got home and checked the web site and found there were 17 received sends from the phone. I re checked the settings in the software on the cell phone to make sure nothing changed, I had hot sink off and smart send off. I chose this method so I could hit the send button when I wanted it to send info to the web site. The only thing I did was keep the software running and pushed the send button when I wanted it to send. WHAT HAPPENED? It had a mind of its own and made all those extra sends, why? Was it because I left the software on? I did not have either of the two check boxes checked. Why did this happen?? ..

Thanks for helping

It was at 5 min. I thought it had nothing to do with anything unless I had one of the two check boxes checked. I am now guessing since you asked this question it has everything to do with it. I guess if Hot sync is off and smart sending is off it will send according to that time set. Now that I think about it,it makes sence, hot sync is one thing and smart send is another. I will change it according to my needs. Thanks for helping me.

Anytime. Always glad to help.

Hot GPS: Leaves the gps constantly receiving signals. Useful if you
have your send interval set to a short time (1 or 2 minutes) Uses the battery kind of FAST.

Smart Send: Will not send a location regardless of the send interval if you have not moved.

Send Interval: How often the program sends tracking information. (Of course obeying the smart send checkbox)

I understand more, Is it---

Post by zac123 »

Hi again, Thanks. I think I understand even more now. Is it correct then if I set my send interval time to 15 min and have the smart send box checked that it will not send info if I have not moved location and if the 15 min time is up and I have not moved location it will still not send. Also what is the distance in miles ( 1/4-1/2-3/4-1) that smart send requires you to move before it will send data. Is that distance adjustable?? Thanks again !!

I believe if you move outside of the GPS margin of error, it will re transmit your position. So something way less than a 1/4 mile. More like 60 feet, or less. (I am not really an expert, I only try to sound like one... :) )

Hi again, thank you very much. That was great info on the GPS error margin. Even if its a little more or a little less then 60 feet that is good info for me. I will keep the smart send off and just go by time interval . It will work good for me that way. Well, back to our holiday weekend, I hope you and every one has a great weekend. Thanks for your time.
