Accutracking for Vehicle Theft Recovery

Post by joesgt281 »

OK, been playing with my new toy for a couple days - pretty cool!
My intention is to use this thing as a tracking device for my car, in case it gets ripped off.
It works well, but I don't want to have to initiate Accutracking everytime I park the car, particularly if I have the phone in a concealed place.
What's the best strategy?
Should I just keep the phone on all the time with A/T always enabled?
I plan to hook it up to the cars 12V system to be powered by it all the time. I'm not really concerned about draining the battery in the car since I drive it almost every day.
Thanks,
Joe

Thanks ATS.
Any particular downsides of just keeping it on all the time?
I know when it's not moving it goes into SmartSend mode to keep from sending out meaningless repeats.....thats a good feature.

Mine has been on for months. I find that every so often I do need to restart the phone. (I usually do not turn the phone off)
I can't be tracked anymore... :(

That seems like the simplest thing.
And, if I understand it right, there's no "usage" basis for the service, just the flat daily rate, right? So no sense not to leave it on all the time!
I've set up fences around home and work that stay up all the time. It's a cool added sense of security knowing that when I get 500' from home that it's going to text me and basically verify it's functionality every day.
So far I'm loving it!

I wish I could make mine stay up for longer than 2 weeks. It seems to die for no reason and I have to reset it or else it will not send updates. I too have it hooked to the 12v car battery.
