SW VERSION PROBLEM AND VM LOAD CLASS ERROR ON ATTEMPT TO RUN

PROBLEM 1: ON TRYING TO UPLOAD i710 ACCUTRACK IM TOLD TOCHECK BOXES FOR R2B.00.00, R2B.00.02, AND R2B.00.04 MY PAGE GIVES OPTIONS FOR ONLY THE 1ST 2, BUT NOT R2B.00.04. (THE SW VERSION IN MY NEW i710 IS R2B.02.02) THE ONLY WAY I CAN SUCCESSFULLY UPLOAD AND ASSIGN ACCUTRACK (FOR THE i710) TO MY PHONE IS TO USE THE VERSION NUMBERS FOR THE i730. IT THEN UPLOADS AND APPEARS IN MY "JAVA APPS" MENU.

PROBLEM 2: AFTER IT INSTALL ON PHONE, IT WON'T SUCCESSFULLY RUN. WHEN I SELECT "ACCUTRACK" FROM JAVA APPS, IT OPENS AND GOES THROUGH "INITIALIZE" AND APPARANTLY STARTS LOADING, THEN STOPS WITH ERROR MESSAGE: "VM LOAD CLASS ERROR" I GET THE RED X AND IT STOPS...I HAVE NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO ENTER THE "TRACKING ID" NUMBER.

HELP?

(1). I had the similar problem as of JN?s problem 1: I?m suppose to check the boxes for R2B.00.00, R2B.00.02 and R2B.00.04. But NO R2b.00.04 option there to check to.

During this upload application process: I filled: Jad file name & Jar file name :AccuTracking-227482.jad & AccuTracking-227482.jar (I noticed that I can download two different version of AccuTracking 710.zip, one is generated by 08/21/04, another is generated by 08/31/04, I tried both. Both of them are not working); Application name: AccuTracking; Version: v2.0 (which I don?t know whether it is the right one); # of license: *; Category: Action; Partner: AccuTracking; and then I check R2B.00.00 and R2B.00.02 instead R2B.00.00, R2B.00.02 and R2B.00.04.

Then when I try to download to i710 phone, I got ?Failed Download w/ status code: 904 (attribute Mismatch)?.

(2). Can anyone tell me how to check the sw version in my new i710 phone which I brought it 10/14/04 (since you mentioned that JN mentioned that its i710 sw version is R2B.02.02

(3). Question to JN?s problem1: how could JN to user the version number for the i730 (what is the i730 version numbers) to upload the i710 phone?

TO CIFFART_XD: YOU CAN CHECK THE SW VERSION ON YOUR i710 BY CLICKING THE FOLLOWING KEYS IN RAPID ORDER:



THAT CALLS UP YOUR "UNIT INFO" SCREEN, AND SCROLL DOWN TO SOFTWARE, PRESS OK TO SEE YOUR SW VERSION. I BOUGHT MY PHONE THIS MONTH, SO IM GUESSING YOU HAVE THE SAME VERSION.

ON THE OTHER QUESTION, THE ONLY TIME I'VE SUCCEEDED DOWNLOADING ACCUTRACKING FROM MY JAVA APPS "NEW PURCHASES" WAS TO JUST ENTER THE NUMBERS COMPATIBLE WITH THE i730 (which all DO show up in the check boxes) ROA.00.00 ROA.00.02, AND ROA.00.04 IT DIDNT FIX THE INSTALL PROBLEM THOUGH...THE SAME ERROR CAME UP: "VM LOAD CLASS ERROR" AND STOPPED INSTALLING.

Perhaps you will have better luck uploading the app to your phone with a data cable?

YEP, SKIBUM...THAT'S THE NEXT MOVE. JUST HAVE TO GO BUY A CABLE. EVERYTHING IS EXTRA WITH NEXTEL, YA KNOW.

I think those software version numbers (R2B.00.00, R2B.00.02 and R2B.00.04) on the installation page were those available when the page was written.

Your phone may have a newer firmware after that. Just check your phone and select any version that matches your phone on the Nextel MAM page.

Thank you for the info. The sw version of my new i710 phone is R2B.02.02.

I used jad & jar file from the Accutracking installation file for i710 from the Support page. I also tried to check the i730 option (as JN suggested) w/ ROA.00.00 ROA.00.02, AND ROA.00.04, I did not get lucky. I'm still getting "failed to download error code 904".

Question on the version 2.0 or 1.3: Did it mean that we need to download different i710 installation zip files for version 2.0 vs. version 1.3? Or, we need to type in the v2.0 or v1.3 in "Version" option under Nextel upload process?

Is there any AT senior people can help us to make i710 phone to track to GPs location.

Dear AT support:

I used a i710 v2.0.1 yesterday, it did work for me.

I still got download error 904.

Any other ideas to make i710 work?

Or if I buy new phone, which one should I buy next to make tacking work.

i710 is ok for AccuTracking but if you would really like a new phone, i730/i830 would be fine.

The 904 error is probably caused by a corrupt file in the download zip. Can you check your META-INF/MANIFEST.MF in the zip? Meanwhile I'll check the zip file on server.

The zip on the server looks correct.

I would suggest you play with the phone firmware version numbers in your Nextel MAM download page (clean the previous download first). If it still won't work, try a data cable installation. Search this forum, there are some topics about data cable installation.

Can tell me in detail how can play with the phone firmware version numbers in Nextel MAM downloading page. Each time, I delete the old the application, then start all by insert jad &jar files, typing application name, typing version (e.g, v2.0), check the R2B.00.00, R2B.00.02 then continue and save. in Nextel MAM page.

What you mean by playing w/ phone firmware version numbers in Nextel MAM page? Is that mean that each time I redo the upload process in Nextel MAM page, I use the same jad & jar file, but key in different version numbers, such as, v2.0, v2.0.1, v1.3 etc? Can you tell more in detail? Thanks.

710 errors

The Nextel MAM page does not offer a selection of R2B.02.02 which is the sw version of all the new i730s since the GPS fix they offered 2months ago (I've tried selecting R2B.02.01...which doesn't work either) Once again, the ONLY version of AccuTracking I've successfully been able to UPLOAD to my phone is your version for the i730. I can use those version numbers to get it to complete up/down loads into phone, but when I attempt to run it on from Java Apps menu, it stops with error message: "VM CLASS LOADING ERROR".

Since the Nextel MAM page does not offer a selection of R2B.02.02 which is the sw version of all the new i710s. Also Nextel MAM page does not offer a selection of R2B.00.04. I strongly believe that is the reason I would not download to i710 phone.

I'm going to buy data cable soon. But I found that the following Q&A from Nextel page:

"Can I still perform Tethered (data cable) downloads? "
As of 8/30/04, the new Nextel Web site will provide Over-The-Air downloading only, and will not support tethered/data cable downloads. Visit http://www.nextel.com/downloads for more information about the Nextel data plans you will need to perform an Over-The-Air download.



Am I still be able to download my i710 phone thru data cable?

I think some 3rd party loaders can still do data cable installation. Check nextel.howardforums.com.
