Secure access to the REST API

In the same way you provide https://secure.accutracking.com, is there any way to securely access the xml data returned by the REST API?

Should be no problem. We can setup a self-signed certificate right away for api.accutracking.com and add trusted certificate later.

- Is there any restriction on how often an application using the REST API can hit the Accutracking secure servers before it is considered an unfair use of the system?

Additionally, any recommendation for the frequency related to the sending interval set in the units, based in your experience?

There's no hard limit but we recommend the query in no less than every 5 seconds. As the load grows, we'll distribute it to clusters so there should be no problem.
