Using Boost Mobile phone as a laptop modem?

Does anyone know if this is possible or how well it works?

Also, I'm wondering if I hardwire the phone to the car battery, is there a way to simultaneously tether the phone to my laptop?

I'm looking to buy the starter kit and using it in my delivery service to be able to track and manage employees in mappoint.

You can tether, but its VERY slow... Nextel data is about as slow as it gets... if you get about 9.6k throughput you would be happy - so for "web" surfing it does not work... for small data it works great.

And yes, you can tether, and power the phone at the same time.
