Blackberry error - Timed out while waiting for GPS Location

Have I done something wrong? I can't seem to ever get a fix using my new BB 8830. During the install process I agreed to allow AT to use the GPS, send UDP as well as http. Still nothing.

Please advise.

Is it with Verizon? They disable the GPS on the phone by default.

Exactly correct, I found out that Verizon cripples the GPS on my BB 8830- forces subscribers to use their proprietary GPS application called VZNavigation.
