Recommended sending intervals

Lets say I set my phone to send out data once an hour. Will I kill the battery very fast?
What about twice an hour.

I send data every 4 minutes, and my battery lasts all day.

If we send data that often will we use up all of the 1meg of transfer we get from nextel?

That would depend on your schedule... I only send data during the day, and I dont go over 1mb. I also was a bit worried about the amount of data, so I signed for a 5 mb plan just to be sure, but the use has generally been less than 1mb.
