Disabling Walkie Talkie function for my i415 Boost mobile un

I've received a number of sms text messaging for persons unknown and my accutracking application was shown to be suspended

I've been using the accutracking application for a couple weeks now total.

I noted on the boostmobile website I've been charged for a single day of walkie talkie usage (but as used only for tracking of my unit)...Nobody IS or should EVER be using that product on this. Is there a way to have that feature disabled? Has anyone else had this experience- getting charged for walkie talkie usage when actual usage has only been data plan for accutracking?

Even if someone calls you and you don't answer, you will still be charged $1/day. I also received three walkie-talkie calls on three days. There does $3 of my $10 testing credits. I called Boost Customer Service and had them disable walkie-talkie, and the problem has stopped.

Also make sure that messaging is turned off, so you won't get text messages from anybody (except Boost/Nextel). I signed up with this option during my enrollment. This will not affect the data plan (required for accutracking)

They told you they'd disable the walkie-talkie feature? Strange....I specifically asked twice and they told me (they) do not offer that service. (!!!??!) Anybody able to get them to disable walkie-talkie...I told Boost that I don't get any benefit outta people chirping my phone and don't appreciate paying for the service when I don't "get" anything out of it but they get my revenue for a "service" that I don't need or want.

i had that problem with mine so what i did was told them i wanted all incoming calls and text even the walkie talkie to not be allowed .. he argued for a min then he did it ..my adviseis to tell them you only want the phone for personal use out going only with internet and you should be fine

set your walkie-talkie filter to only accept from contacts, or off completely.

its something that should be editable on the phone itself.

So...is that to say to disable walkie talkie...the call filter is set to "on" instead of "off" to enable the filtering OUT of any walkie talkie calls?

The phraseology of the set up is confusing to me...

set the DC call filter to ON, and the alert call filter to ON

anyone who beeps or alerts you will get a "Not avail C0" error.
Its like you phone isnt even on.

Likewise, set the phone call filter to ALL, and the phone wont even ring, it will however show a missed call, and the caller ID of the caller.

I am not the sharpest tack in the box, but what is DC call filter?

On my brand new i415 I get the following choices through various menus.

In SETTINGS there is...
WT Options
-Tkgrp Silent (Group): Off,On
-Tkgrp Area:Wide Area, Local 1
-One Touch WT: Off, Last Call, Assigned Number
-Alert Type: Ring, Vibrate, Silent

If I create (or edit) a profile then I get to set...
Call Filter
-Phone: Off, All, All Contcts, Some Contacts
-Walkie-Talkie: Off, On
-Alerts: Off, On
-Notifications: Off, Voice Message, Text Message, All


Can someone give a simple answer to a simple person on how all this stuff should be set so the phone won't accept calls, or walkie-talkie, or messages, or notifications of missed calls?


BTW the software works great, and the phone gets its GPS location quickly...

easy way to understand call filter is to understand that its like a block for certain types of calls.

phone:
-off lets everything thru
-contacts only lets only contacts thru
-some contacts lets only contacts you specify thru
-all lets nothing thru
WT:
-Off: lets everything thru
-On: lets nothing thru
Alerts:
Same as WT. Off lets everything thru, On lets nothing thru
Notifications:
-Off lets it alert on everything
-VM: doesnt let vm notifications come thru, but lets text
-Text doesnt let text thru, but vm will come thru
-all blocks all.


Just remember it like this. Each setting is like a block. You turn the ones on you want to BLOCK.

On my work phones, its set up like this:
All contacts
DC OFF
ALERTS ON
VM OFF

So, any phone numbers stored in the phone book can call, anyone whos not in the phone book gets sent to VM.
The phone notifies me for text messages, but not VM's. (the vm icon turns on, but theres no ring or vib alert)
You cannot alert me, but you can just PTT me and start talking.
