New User Registration - Not Available Since 31 JAN 2006

Post by TheMann »

Based on other forum messages and my own attempts to register the past week, it appears that New User Registration for Accutracking service has been unavailable since at least 31 JAN 2006.

Is it possible to register for AccuTracking personal user service some other way or are you accepting no new memberships at this time?

As a potential new user who is considering purchasing the Boost phone with preinstalled AccuTracking software, I would like to know the following:

1) If I purchase the phone today, when will I be able to register and start using the tracking software?

2) What is the probability of AccuTracking service remaining available without cost (except for Boost phone charges) for the next 12 months?

3) What has been the availabilty of the AccuTracking GPS phone tracking web site pages for registered users for the past 12 months? 100%, 90%, 50%??? In other words, how often and for how long has tracking map service been down for maintenance, system crashes, system overload, etc. the past year?

Thanks

The registration was closed for system performance review and evaluation due to the rapid growth in accounts. Existing free service users are not affected.

1) Start kit users will have the registration with the purchase.
2) The service will remain at no cost for existing users. For the new accounts we are going to restrict the registration.
3) In past 24 months, we only closed registration once for 1 day and the system downtime was less than 1 day for migration in Sept 2004.

For user registration, please email support(at)accutracking.com with your phone model so we can help.

To clarify your repsonses:

1) If I purchase a Boost phone from your web site within the next couple weeks, are you saying registration for AccuTracking service will be included in the phone package sent to my home (user name and password issued) so that I can immediately login even if the registration web page is still deactivated/unavailable?

2) Will the web-based map tracking service/application be available to new users even if the registration web page is still deactivated/unavailable?

3) In what way will user registration for other new users "be restricted"? In other words, if I were to purchase a Boost phone from my local Best Buy or become a Nextel mobile phone subscriber next week or next month, will I be able to register for Accutracking service going forward either for free or for a fee? If there will be a fee, please give details.

Thanks again,

Dave

The answer to all 3 questions are "yes". The bottom line is that we are just restricting the new user registrations to ensure the performance for the existing users untill we decide either to expand the capacity or stop taking new accounts. If you are really concerned about the future performance and support, you should go with our paid premium service (http://www.accutracking.com/services.html)

I ordered a new Motorola i415 Boost phone from the Accutracking.com web site on FEB 08 and received it by Priority Mail on FEB 13. I was successfully tracking my position via the Accutracking.com web site within an hour of opening the package. FANTASTIC!!

For those that are curious, Accutracking Phone Sales will send you an email that confirms that your new phone has been shipped and it contains a link that will allow you to register for Accutracking service. After registering, you replace the temporary tracking ID in your phone's Accutracking Java application with the permanent one generated during the registration process. It is not necessary to call or email the support department. I was amazed that GPS data was available within 2 minutes of completing the short registration procedure.

Also, prior to receiving the email from Accutracking Phone Sales, you will receive an email from Boost Mobile saying your phone has been activated and it lists your phone number and other account info.

KUDOS TO ACCUTRACKING FOR A TERRIFIC AND VALUABLE SERVICE!!!
