Now we have a i285 beta in http://www.accutracking.com/downloads/b ... ing285.zip. We don't officially support it so use at your own risk.

Was anything found on the i285? I'm curious about if it works with the i710 code.

I am considering getting a Boost i285 and cable, and trying that out as a portable GPS tracker. I still haven't researched enough to figure out exactly how I'm going to load the application since I wouldn't be able to use Nextel's web based loader, but it looks like it is possible.

I'll pick one up in the next week or so and let you know how it goes.

Try the i710 build. i285 is not on our supported phone list but i710 build should be compatible. And last time I replied this thread, we had no i710 support yet.

Anything is possible... lets see what support says when they read the thread.

No offense taken. I'm just curious why it doesn't work, as the literature would seem to indicate that it would. The original post was from 10/2004, so maybe there's been an update to the phone's firmware that might make a difference.

OK... I didn't mean to be rude or anything...sorry if it seemed that way!

I only asked because according to the Nextel J2ME Developer's Guide, the i285 supports the Location API and most all of the other APIs that the Accutracking app probably uses. Of course, I did read it, so that doesn't necessarily make it true. You know what they say about believing everything you read...

hehe.... did the phone change it's capabilities when I wasn't looking??

I don't think it did... so the answer would be the same. :)

Is it still the case that Accutracking does not work with the i285?

No. it won't.
