it needs to be in view of the sky, through glass.
I'm planning on using it as an anti-theif device for my car and just wanted some clarification. On a phone, what side is the gps chip set on? I want to put it in a spot that will transmit very good but try to hide it at the same time. I have some creative ideas
Also, is there any good place i can find the usb to phone cable besides ebay? Anybody have an suggestions on a good place with a good price?
If i buy the package from ya'll will there be support if i can't get it to work (i'm okay with computers but am not awesome haha)
Thanks for reading!

also does window tint have any effect on this? I know some tints have metals in them, unlike the cheaper ones that are done by dyes (the ones that turn purple.
When a signal is sent, does the phone light up and say signal sent? I think i read you can have it running in the background so the phone should be able to look normal right? (no lights or sounds?)

That usb cable should work with webjal right?madrabbitt wrote:Entire process, start to finish.
My secondary job is in EMS, i used to be issued a department nextel. I ran a similar tracking program on it for work, then on my personal phone, i ran accutracking, primarially so my fiancee knew where i was.
Now i carry a blackberry at work, and i use my personal phone for radio, so i cant have a program like this working or i might miss an important group call, plus i wanted to have a phone that was in my car 100% of the time tracking it (although i do turn it off from time to time)
Went to target.
The only phone they had in stock was the i415, which is a good phone, i just wanted a flip, but oh well.
bought said i415. 79.99.
Came home and activated it online.
Called them to make sure MMS was enabled. That is a key step.
Used webjal to load the program.
Created a new client ID and programmed it in.
I have a single cig outlet under the rear seat of my cherokee. I plugged a "rugged" car charger into it (the one with the yellow tab has a longer cord then the one with the white tab) I routed the cord to the phone, put the phone in the back by the spare tire, where it has a good view out the window. I taped over the display to keep it inconspicuous, and now it lives back there and transmits its location info.
The link in my sig is the phone in the car.
Re: questions and clarification on product and starter kit
The start kit sales and support are conducted by a third party. All sales and support questions can be directed to them at phonesales@accutracking.com. But software support is still provided from AccuTracking.Anonymous wrote: If i buy the package from ya'll will there be support if i can't get it to work (i'm okay with computers but am not awesome haha)

Let me clarify on my definition of "hiding it in your vehicle." Generally, you need some type of sky view, but that is not always the case. The GPS sensor appears quite strong, it will go through (thin) layers of metal and plastic!
I have a Chevrolet truck. I placed my phone in the overhead console of the truck. The GPS device has no clear line of site (the console is plastic, and then there is a little insulation, and then the thin metal roof.) The phone transmits my position perfectly.
As always, you will want to test your device is many different ways in different positions to ensure you are getting a decent signal. I have heard of people placing it under the dash plastic and it working fine as well.I have NOT tested that though. I am going to be conducting various battery life tests on the i415 as well as placement tests in my truck.

thanks a bunch for the reply.
I think i'm gonna hardwire the phone to my car, so it will be on and charging 24/7. I don't really have a need for another cell phone so this will be a security device.
I'm interested in the different places you will be trying the phone out in your truck. If you'd share the results, i and i'm sure the other members would appreciate it
I have a small sports car so it's kinda hard to find a nice spot (maybe inside the plastic bumpers or something.

i415 From Best Buy
I don't know if this is the right forum. If not, please let me know. Best Buy has the i415 for $49 from Boost. Can just buy it, a $20 card and download the software from AccuTracking and be ready to go?
