Boost Mobile i450

I'm testing the phone for tracking...to give one to each of my 3 elementary school children - to place in their backpacks. I want them to have more freedom as they play around, etc. I really don't care if they take an hour to stop and play in the park, forest, etc on their way home home from school. However, my wife still wants to know where they are in case she need to pick them up or something. This seems like a good solution.
I picked up a boost i450 from Target for $59. After activating the phone, calling customer service to make sure SMS was enabled, I found a data cable and downloaded webjal and accutracker.
The only problem i had was installing the usb cable drivers on xp.
I had to do it twice. I had to disable the phone modem i never use and move the usb modem to com 1.
It took 48 hours for the web services to engage.
It seems to be working like a charm. For $6.00/month plus an occasional emergency call this seems to be the perfect thing.
I only have one question..on the i450 I can set the option for the accutracker to run in the background and then the phone seems to give it a suspended status....is this ok, or will it affect the functionality?
