Is there a way to install your software on a Nextel i730 via the serial/usb cable? I don't see instructions.

Installation procedures via usb cable vary from loader to loader. That is why there's no general instructions for cable installation. Just following your loader's documentation would be fine.

I've just ordered my phone and Total Connect but have some concern over installation. After seeing some of the problems listed in the forum I intend to use a USB cable from computer to phone. What is the loader? If I don't connect with a cable are the JAD and JAR files being sent via airwaves? Or is there some additional software I'll need?

Motorola's loader is called WebJal and you need to register with them to use it.

Without cable, you would use the method listed in our support page using the Nextel MAM website. The files will be sent over air. No other software required. In the past only i710 versions had problems with MAM (now it works fine) so try MAM first.
