Alternate methods for Geolocation

This site is great (and the price can not be beat :) ) but I worry a bit about the economic model of getting something for free.

1. Is it possible to call the cell phone and receive it's current location directly?

2. Is it possible for the cell phone to call or message it's location to me directly?

Just curious as I like to know what my options are. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. 8)

1. No. The phone works in passive mode only.
2. The phone will send you an Email or SMS message when it violates geofence. It won't send you directly under normal circumstances.
