Blackberry 8830 intermittant location

I have an 8830 world edition with Sprint I changed the setting from one minute to 5 minutes to help conserve battery but it tracks very sporadically. I left the house and drove to work, no reports were generated although it did generate 4or 5 reports while I was at work.
Any Suggestions?
