Daughters Phone shows up in different Neighborhoods

We just got accutracking up and working yesterday for our daughter. She has been home all evening, but accutracking has shown her to be home and two blocks over into the next neighborhood and also about 1/2 to 3/4 a mile away on a highway, of course 0MPH.

In the time span of 4 hrs, it has tracked her in 24 different places. What could the cause of this be?

This is generally caused by "multi-path" - a relected signal, or poor signal. GPS is based on EXACT timing - and any variation will show "movement".

Was the car near a building, overhang, wall, etc - is the phone "hidden" in the car, etc. If you want to verify this theory, put the phone in the car, on the dash, in the middle of the driveway. You will still see some "wander" - but not as pronounced. GPS wander is a normal phenomenon - especially with low end consumer equipment.

Thank You.
She was in the house for the most part, going upstairs and downstairs.
We live in a Cul-de-sac, and I had her drive around the block to test it out, but in the time it took her to drive to the end of the block and back (1 or 2min), it really did not show anything.

Its usually present on all phones/areas - but the more transmissions the phone makes, and the longer it sits in one spot not moving - the more it is pronounced on the screen. When you have all the little dots - anything that strays looks like a big deal because its more visible.

Enjoy your tracking adventures...
