Web Service needed?

Ive been reading bout a service called Mologogo that does basicly the same thing as AccuTracking. In the discussion section there is a post that indicates that the web service from boost is not needed. Does any one know if this is the case? AccuTrack does require the service to work correct? Here is a c & P of the Q & A

Q: also have another question. I am a bit confused. I did not check the box for internet access when I activated my pay as you go boost mobile phone online. The darn thing works yet I am reading out here that you have to activate the internet access.

A: You do NOT need to enable Boost Wireless Web to use internet capable apps on these phones. Most freeware internet JAVA apps (Opera Mini, Google Maps, etc) run on Packet Data which is enabled by default on Boost as it runs through the same "switch" as DC.

Technically you don't need to have the web service - as they have to use the web for server contact to keep the Boost account info up to date.

However; its also a violation of the TOS, and kinda like "stealing" - as your using service that your not paying the $.35/day for. It actually washes out, since you will expire your service - even if you have no activity - since 90 will go by - and you must do something as least that long.

But, to answer your question, yes, even without that option, it will work... If you can still sleep at night though.. ;)

So by keeping the .35 per day this will keep the account from expiring? Or should a call be made occasionally?

You never need to make a call; but if you have the $0.35 per day option - you will run out of "money" before your "expiration time" - does that make sense?

If you put $20 of time on it - you get about 2 months of use - for the tracking service - if you don't have the $0.35 option - it will still expire 90 days after recharge - a gain of not much.

Hope that helps...
