Any users out there with the blackberry 8800 able to comment on the impact on battery life when using accutracking vs without?

Thanks in advance

I have had my 8800 for a little over a week now and wanted to share my results.

Without accutracking installed, the battery was depleted approximately .5-1% per hour while idle over a 8 hour period. I have tested twice to confirm, one time receiving a 5% drop and the second 6% drop in battery power. I can go 2 days without having to rechage with heavy data and phone usage (100 min a day plus 100-150 emails) and have approximately 15-20% batter left.

Now, here is where things get interesting, installed accutracking, but to my surprise there is NO option for hot GPS, and I theorize it is locked to on. I setup the device for sending at 15 min intervals so as to not constantly use the radio and received a wopping 3.5-3.7% per hour drop over a 8 hour control period. This means if you did not use your blackberry for anything other than accutracking, the BEST battery life you could expect would be 28.5 hours which to me is unacceptable. BTW, before someone ask, I did a hard reset and got the same results.

Food for thought...

P.S. Please enable the full menu of features on the blackberry 8800 so we can have a usable app rather than a battery killer! :!:

There is no such option as "Hot GPS" for BlackBerry because we disabled "Hot GPS" on it and don't allow it on. If it was on, you would see about 8~12 hours battery life.

I have tested it with the app open and closed and open it keeps the GPS running full time which accounts for the battery drain. I have tested with similar results with blackberry and google maps as well as the telenav services.

I am not trying to flame anyone or incite a riot, but the application does in fact hold the GPS in the on state as long as it is running, evening if left running in the background only.

The battery on the i415 is 900mah and is rated for 75 hr or 120 min
The battery on the 8800 is 1400mah and is rated for 528 hr or 300 min
So 12 hrs on the i415 and 24 hrs on the 8800 would be about right with the larger capacity, lower powered GSM and updated SirfIII-LT would be in line.
