I am considering purchasing a GPS enabled cell phone to track my teenage daughter WITHOUT her knowledge. Before I make this purchase I would like to know some basic information and if what I want to do will work.
1. As long as the phone is programmed, charged, and turned on it will send a signal to the tracking program?
2. On our home computer we can access the tracking program and monitor the location of the cell phone?
3. I can program how often the tracking signal is sent - 5 min., 10 min., 30 min., etc.? Is this programmed on the cell phone or through the tracking program?
4. If the cell phone is concealed inside the vehicle will it still be able to transmit a signal?
5. Does the placement of the cell phone have to be completely unobstructed - through glass only? Are there any recommendations of a location to place the phone so that it will be concealed and still be able to transmit a signal?
6. Is it common for the Nextel or AccuTracking systems to have down time? If so what is the average length of down time and how often for each service?
7. The cell phone will only be used for the tracking feature so a lot of bells and whistles are not needed. Which phone is recommended to be the best?
8. What makes the phone the best?
9. Is the GPS chip the same in all cell phones? Or does one cell phone brand or model have a better GPS chip over another brand or model?
Is there any thing else that I should ask? Please feel free to share if there is something else important that I should know.
Thanks for any advice and answers.
Tracking Ability & New Customer Questions
Any normal teenager with any sort of brain would realize right away that they were being tracked. The software is not transparent.
IMHO a better way is to let the teen know exactly what is going on, and that the tracking is a function of being allowed to roam freely. No tracking, no roaming about.

I can't be tracked anymore...

Incognito Tracking Ability
I really hate to say this because the service is not yet ready for prime time but, Nextel's $15.00 capability's accuracy is getting better. At least try it to see if it serves your purpose. Also, it is totally incognito. Hope I have not offended anyone.
Bmack....
