Switching out battery

Hey there. I have been reading all over the forum pages looking for some info regarding the feasibility of switching out the battery pack on the i415.
If one has regular access to the i415 and prefers not to hotwire into a vehicle, would replacing the drained i415 battery with a fresh i415 battery cause alot of kinks and problems with using the accutracking software?
For example, I could see switching battery packs necessitating the volume, display, etc settings on the phone being reset in order to maintain discretion.
Also, can someone educate me as to the difficulty of getting a phone hotwired into the car when it uses fiber optics, if this is at all relevant?
I assume fiber optics relates to the sound system and not the power system and I shouldn't worry about attempting installation using a run of the mill stereo/navigation installation place?
Any information is much appreciated!
