Why are you doing this?

Hey,

This looks pretty cool. However, it's free, yet not open source. It looks perhaps semi-commercial. Your FAQ doesn't say anything about what you hope to get from this.

Why are you doing this?

This project is part of our tracking service package. We also offer consulting and custom application development for businesses. By running it for free we are hoping to demonstrate our experiences and technology as well as grab the growing opportunity in the tremendously tracking market and test our vision. We do believe tracking is what more and more people need everyday in the near future.

Currently we have no plan going commercial or open source. The project may get some returns from the advertisement later if the user group expands. The service is and will be operating in a good shape for free with small number of users.

I think it is a good product....

I think it is a good product and can relay the usefulness of the information to the people in the transportation industry that I deal with on a daily basis.

Thank You, Curtis

Tracking and Stalking

This is criminal.
All a rapist/murderer/etc...has to do to find me is befriend me and give me a cell phone. This has happened to me from someone I met on the web. I plan to sue. Now he knows where I live.
It should be unlawful to allow someone to track someone without their knowledge, especially the cell phone company that gave me the phone, full knowing I met this person only on the internet.

When I asked if he could "track" me via the phone they told me absolutely not!

This is NOT criminal.

IMHO, you need to start looking for a better class of boyfriend.

What a strange POV. Is it criminal for care dealers to sell him a car because he can use it to run you down with it? Is it criminal for bars to sell food and drink because he can slip a date rape drug in it! At least you can decide if you are going to use/carry the cell phone he gave you. You can't control whether he gets to drive the car he buys from the car dealer. The problem is your naivete, not the cell provider. You just need to not be foolish enough to trust strangers you meet in internet chat rooms!
