Data Usage During Operation

Post by subterfuge »

Your FAQ says that the data packet in version 1.4 is about 60 bytes. Does that include TCP headers and any packet overhead?

I also read a post about how the AGPS feature uses more packet data, something to do with getting information from LES. Does every fix accutrack gets use the AGPS feature? Hence, packet data usage every time it gets a fix?

And finally, let me say that this program rocks. I hope your efforts are well rewarded.

60 bytes doesn't include the header size. Although we have never measured the acutal packet size, I estimate an additional 30 bytes or so. LES is contacted only when the AGPS data age is older than the max-age set in Nextel network. We don't know the extact amount of data exchanged but I expect it in tens of bytes. Therefore, it's safe to say the overall size is about 100 in the worst case.

And thank you for the great comments on the program! :)
