If the interval for sending info is set at more than every 5 mintues, will the battery last longer?
I changed it to 10 minutes hoping the battery may last a little longer. Let me know if anyone knows if this will work or not.

You will NOT see a BIG improvement in battery life... There are other things that take battery with the unit on. Going from 1 to 5, or 5 to 10, you might get an extra hour - if your lucky.
8-12 hours, on the built in battery, is tops.
