Blackberry curve 8310 from AT&T

i installed versiob v3.2.0
i cant get it to work
it says:
Refreshing...0
Last fix time
Signal 55%
Battery 100%
Started at 1:07:05AM
i have the blackberry curve 8310 from AT%T and i have the unlimited data plan with internet on it.
I dont know what refreshing means??
where i live the reception is pretty bad and sometimes GPS wont even find a signal until i leave my house a couple of blocks away.
