Major artifact issues on new phone

Post by madrabbitt »

Just upgraded from a i560 to i580 for the car phone.
Since the upgrade i've had several weird readings.

The car has been standing still for at least the last 24 hours, however, take a look at these readings.

(set it at 48 hours for this post)

Theres at least 3 of them in mexico (i live about 8 miles from the border, but these locations are all in the desert in the middle of nowhere, and this car has never been to mexico)
4 or 5 of them in the desert outside of town, some of them reporting speeds well over 150 miles per hour.
Dude! Wheres my car?

Oh, wait. Here it is.

Looks like a hardware issue, could be battery power ups and downs where at a point it's too low to drive the GPS chipset (or too high to over-drive it).

battery was fully charged before i even installed the program. Its been attatched to a constant 12 volt source since the install in the car.

I'm thinking its probably a phone firmware issue. I'll update that and see what happens.
Phone also has some other random problems that point me in that direction.

Its installed in the exact same place as my i560 was, so i know its not a signal issue.

i think it might be related to running a second gps program at the same time.
I also moved it to be in the window rather then on the console, and i'll leave it overnight and see what it does.

yesterday i was not only in mexico, i was also 19K feet above it...

The problem has been narrowed down to the phone itself, and apparently i'm not the only one with the issue.

Software was updated to the newest version, and i did turn on hot gps (since it is plugged in all the time) and still no solution.
