Better accuracy with smart send.

Post by countthe » Mon Mar 06, 2006 12:53 pm

Smart send would be more accurate if the following rule would be added:

Smart send will send a location update with new coordinates if the previously sent location speed was greater than 0.

Why?

I'm coming home and I get logged from around the corner from my house. I park the car in front of my house, I look at the page and it shows that my car is still around the corner traveling at some speed. So my car isn't where the system says it is.

An option to define the radius for smart send would be nice too.

What do you guys think?

Thank you for the input. Not suprisingly the speed and radius factors have been included in the current smart sending algorithm, only that's it's not customizable in the app. The discrepancy you observed is related to the values of these params and the GPS signal margin of errors. A further tuning may yield better result but there is a balance point where you don't want the it to be either too sensitive or too unresponsive.
