I've had similar difficulties with the i325. I don't understand why they'd release a version of phone firmware that won't let you download apps. They are just preventing possible revenue opportunites. :?

As far as waterproofing goes you might check out DryPak

No magnetic mount, but you might be able to use it piece together a solution.

Unfortunately, just because they "have GPS" doesn't mean that the phones have a way for a developer to access the data. I could be mistaken but the currently available Sprint phones only use the GPS internally for E911 and location based services (nearest movie theater, etc)

I don't know of a canned solution. I can suggest two approaches. Both require some level of programming. 1.
