Boost phones will not work there, but you could probably find a BlackBerry and a phone company that allows data... Won't be cheap though.

As long as the same APIs for connections and gps are the same (which they should be), all blackberry software can pretty much be interchanged with other blackberry phones. Go to menu>profiles, find the currently active one, click menu>edit, scroll to Call Filter, turn Walkie-Talkie to on.

The fiber optics relates entirely to your sound system and how sound is sent from the deck to the speakers/amps. Your car still runs on 12v, you can still power the phone from your car no problem. As for the audio installer not touching your car, he probably was just being lazy or it would have not ...
