I've reduced my cache size from 2000 (the default? I don't recall changing it) to 1000. I'll change it to whatever is suggested, to see if it improves the situation.

"Better reception" meaning cellular, or GPS? If it's GPS, I could understand that, because then it wouldn't be able to determine where I am. But in that case, why would it be continually updating the "last fix" field? If you were talking about cellular reception, why wouldn't it ...
