the prepaid version of nextel will not allow access to the packet data network while roaming in canada, so that option is out.

I dont know about mike's data service option, nor do i know what the cheapest way would be.

As for the equipment end, i've toyed with the idea of using an i830 set of boards and sealing it in a waterproof case, and using it as a vehicle mounted GPS transmitter. Project never came to light though.

using cell phone as theft prevention

i recently bought a very expencive motorcycle which is very popular among thieves.

and to make things worse i go to school in downtown toronto.

i would like to get a telus phone that stays with the bike(hidden somewhere) while i leave it unattended.

1-i want to buy the cheapest phone that is compatible, which one do you recommend?

2-i live in ontario canada and know that i have to go thrue tellus, but do they offer a pay as you go plan that supports AccuTracking? if so which plan would it be?

3-my parents live in the states, does nextel have prepaid service that supports GPS tracking?

so basicly i want to buy this phone and pay a one time fee for if and leave it on my bike for if it ever gets stolen.

sincerly,
Ray from toronto
