Notice of "no location received in more than x minutes"

by cvc1968 » Wed May 26, 2010 11:13 am

I'm looking for a solution for the following problem:

Sometimes, for whatever reason, the phone fails sometime during the course of the day. I often don't know that it has failed until I happen to decide to check the location and see that no location has been reported by the phone in more than an hour or 2, etc.

I'm trying to come up with a way that I can be notified if no tracking data is received in more than x minutes. For example, if I have the phone set for 2 minute intervals, I'd like to know if no tracking data has been received in the last, say, 10 minutes (or 30 or whatever). I'd like to receive such notification via sms and/or email.

I am going to explore methods of doing this on my computer (I've leveraged Accutracking RSS feeds to offer iPhone push notifications using Omnigrowl on OSX and can possibly script something for this situation as well), but if there is a solution within Accutracking, that would be great. And this type of notification doesn't exist, consider this a feature request.

Thanks
