I checked the boostmobile.com site for iDen phone coverage area, and I can see that there is no coverage in my area, but I can see coverage just a couple of neighborhoods away. It isn't a showstopper if the phone doesn't work at my residence. There is plenty of coverage in all the areas that I need it to work. That said, is it possible to get an external or directional antenna for use in the non-coverage area?

Boost Mobile use Nextel towers. I don't think it'll work. A way to check the coverage is go to boostmobile.com and check the coverage map by zip code.

According to the maps that depict carrier coverage, the immediate area around my neighborhood has Sprint coverage, but not Nextel. Will the phone in the starter kit work in my neighborhood?
