Right heartbeat is not available on BB. We picked 30 minutes as a heartbeat interval thinking that's a reasonable value for most cases. If you believe other values are better we can change that but we are probably not going to allow user to configure this for sake of simplicity... :)

Thank you for the quick reply!!
I do have to admit you guys have the best support I have seen from any company on the internet. Every forum postings I have read have a conclusion to them, whereas many other forums on the internet leave you hanging.

I tried the Hot GPS and Smart Send on the blackberry application, but no data was recieved for well over an hour, actually closer to two hours.

I read this:
Since version 3.2 for Motorola i### phones, not available on BlackBerry) To prevent the Smart Sending from blocking all redundant data when the phone is staying in one place for a long time, and making the phone completely invisible or un-trackable, the Smart Sending will be force-sending data every 30 minutes (heartbeat sending), even if the data is redundant

But I see smart sending option available on Blackberry software, it does work for smart sending, but there was no 30 minute update. I am thinking now the above means that the heartbeat is not available for the BB version?

I actually have this running on a BB and on a I465 so, I get mixed up with what was available as options on which phone. I LOVE the idea that you can get Tower fixes on the Iden phones for when the unit is indoors.

I would also like to see an option to set the "heartbeat" interval, eg, 15, 30, 45, 60 in future releases.

The data usage has a few overheads from the retrial on failures when the network is poor, and the http protocol adds more overheads too. Overall it could shoot up to a few hundred bytes on each sending. We don't recommend using AccuTracking on a measured data plan. In US, most providers have flat rate unlimited data. We don't care about the data usage. I don't believe Boost Mobile cares because they call it "unlimited data" and they are prepaid (if you find the cap otherwise in their terms, please let us know).

To clarify, if you have Hot GPS enabled, and smart Sending, will it send updates every 10 seconds only if the unit moves ( far enough ) but none when stationary?[/quote]

Correct.
Does Smart sending update at some interval even if it has not moved? eg every 30 minutes
Yes heartbeat every 30 minutes: http://support.accutracking.com/kb/article/000018

Data Usage with Hot GPS, Does Boost Care?

I have calculated that using Accutracking with Hot GPS enabled, with approx 10 second updates, I would use 360 MB of data over a 30 day period. I had read in another post it was 60 bytes per update, but this might be wrong? as this calculates to 15 552 000 bytes (15.5 MB) This is a big difference. Please clarify actual data sent.

This calculation was based on the Data counter on the I465, over a duration of 1 hour, and then calculated for 30 days.

Does Boost mobile care about this? Does Accutracking care about this?

The reason why I ask is simple, its using WAP connectivity. This equates to 259200 pages from a wap browser perspective. ( 10 seccond Updates)

Does this fall within the terms of service for boost, and /or Accutracking?
Has anyone had issues with HOT GPS enabled for a year or two?

To clarify, if you have Hot GPS enabled, and smart Sending, will it send updates every 10 seconds only if the unit moves ( far enough ) but none when stationary? Does Smart sending update at some interval even if it has not moved? eg every 30 minutes?

I think I read that it was every 30 minutes somewhere, please clarify.

For future releases, I would like the ability to set the smart send interval if no movement to any set number of minutes, eg, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 minutes. Basically a "im still alive" send.

Thanks!
