i got mine working the "cheap way" i went and got a cig socket at radiot shaq one that has a inline fuse on the red wire and a black for ground. Found a 12v constant on the car... hoked up that red cable to it and the black cable to ground source. then got a car charger for the phone and pluged it up to that cig lighter socket and boom. works like a charm. the phone is using the cars bat/charging, once the cars bat is removed the phone bat will kick in.

10cents :D

12v to 5v USB..

Guess if you do install a spare cig outlet some where. You could just use a auto charger or get one one of these USB adapters .

I would imagine that most cars have spare hook up points ?

Still looking around...

If you want to go the cheap way like that, you will need a mobile car charger - one that converts 12V to the proper USB charging levels.

So buy a car charger, and a either wire 12V to the end of the car charger, or get a female cig. lighter receptacle - to make it look neater - and wire a remote one that way.

USB power is NOT 12V, so you can't cut the end off your home/wall charger like you indicate in your post.

You can't do that. You will blow up the phone.

USB power adapter cable which is +/- on the cable ?

I need to wired the phone to a 12v constant. My plan is to splice the usb cable and connect that to a 12v constant. My question is on that usb cable how do i tell which is the + and which is (-) ground (on the usb cable that is going to be spliced [the power wall adapter that comes with the phone).
