You probably got a "multi-path" signal... GPS uses atomic clock type timing signals... which means you probably got a reflection of the signal - bounced off a wall or something and it shifted the expected receive timing by a milisecond and thats why it showed up all messed up.

I am sure location, altitude, and speed were all messed up - because all the server side calculations would be the same.

Sometimes if you were under the tree, garage, or something else - your projected signal got bounced and sent to the unit.

Does that make sense?
