to answer my own question...

for anyone else trying to do this -- refer the page above on Zend.com but search for the feedback entitled "Corrections needed for Openwave browser".

Openwave uses very strictly defined syntax in WML. openwave in general is very, very strict.

WML + PHP, mySQL on Nextel browsers

Hey I've been trying to get a simple WML page using PHP to update a mySQL database, and constantly getting the "1019 Compile Error" every time. I thought perhaps you all might have some experience with Openwave/Nextel browsers.

I've used these examples, which don't work at all: http://www.zend.com/zend/tut/wap.php

and if I just save the <form> into a file, name it .HTML and test it in the Openwave phone simulator (v7) - it works, but on the phone itself it doesn't.

in short I'm just looking for one example of a page using PHP that will work on a standard Nextel's browser. my phone is model i265

thank you
