I had the same problem:

i415 would get gps reading but when attempting to send data it would time out and state that "cannot connect".

I called Boost (call 1) and advised that I believed my phone's data servce was not connected. The lady checked it and all was ok. Then I kept trying different things, nothing changed the pattern. Called Boost (call 2) and advised that I was still unable to connect sending gps data. She reassured me that the service was installed and advised me to wait about 10 min and try again Called Boost (call 3) talked to Jose, he said that he will try and do "some things" that may help. He told me to turn the phone off, he then in the background hit some buttons (took about 3 min) and then told me to turn the phone back on. I did, Jose advised to do a "master reset", turn the phone off, and wait 5 min before power back up. I did as instructed, and problem solved. What he did, I have no idea - maybe one of you do?

I found another post pertaining to this issue. It said to call Boost Mobile and have them ping my Carrier IP (Menu->My Info->Carrier IP).

Unfortunately, when I called the system used for pinging was undergoing a scheduled update. Sure enough, the next day I was able to send data.

Sure could have used that "GPS Data Logging" feature requested last year. But hey, who am I to complain -- these guys are doing a great job and the service is free!!

ATSupport: I'm a Java developer in the SF Bay Area interested in learning J2ME. If you need help on features, I'd be happy to assist (given actual paying work loads, of course).

I believe the MMS or Multi Media Services was not setup properly and he just re-did the whole thing. I never did asked him specifically what he had done I was just darn happy he had fixed it after my 6 or 7th call into their helpdesk.

It would have been really nice to know exactly what the Boost rep did to fix your error as I'm now experiencing the same issue. I setup my account and phone (i415) yesterday and it was working great until this evening. It was "sending data..." just fine, then the dreaded "Cannot Connect." message appeared. The funny thing is, I was able to access the Web just fine, send SMS messages, etc. Powering off and restarting did not help.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Indeed this was a boost mobile service issue. It took many calls until I got the more competent service rep who actually didn't have a texas accent and fixed the problem, 10 minutes later it was working.

You might need "MMS" service from Nextel. Please see other threads in this forum for more info. There is no change on the server side or tracker ID generation.

Just spend 1 hour on the phone with boost support and they assure me sms and text messages is on and working fine. I keep reloading the app on the phone and getting different results every once in while. No Sats at all on one load, "cannot connect" on others. I got really lucky with my first setup, this second one is a real pain. Did anything change on your side as far as the new IDs being generated or something along those lines? anywho any help will be greatly appreciated. Sorry about the repeated posts but I just wanted to keep you all abreast of my trials and tribulations.

I know they are the same company but their boost plan includes sms at no charge and the nextel you have to pay a monthly fee. Again my other boost phone works great and its same model, plan and setup... just got a replacement phone and the same problem. Any ideas?

It's very likely the data access plan problem. Call Nextel to verify you have the right plan in place or re-activate the plan.

A few more lines of information, when I go to send message to server I choose a message but it just hangs and I have to quit by pressing the end call button. I have tried deleting and re-installing for the 6th time and nothing.

I have a second Boost i415, the first one works like a charm and I'm very familiar with installing, troubleshooting and making it work. However this second I am able to get a fix no problem but when it goes into sending it eventually after 2 or 3 min its says "cannot connect". I have called boost support and sms is enable just fine, I'm able to send and receive sms messages. I have reinstalled the app 4 times. Security on the GPS chips is always open.

I have tried several tracking ids and nothing. Even went to the extreme of creating a new account thinking each account only allows one client in the free mode but nothing. Again my other is working like a charm, could it be aphone issue?
