Family Locater

by jmjii » Sun Jun 18, 2006 10:04 pm

Both now offer the services. If on Sprint, they are the only source since the source code/network is closed to other organizations. If on Nextel, they charge $?/mo. while for personal use it is FREE with AccuTracking.com as the source code/network was originally shared with them.

Which network is using the family locator...Sprint or Nextel? I wanna use that tower that's in my neighborhood, but it looks like I can't........ .......z

Anytime!

That's what we are all here for!

P.S. Unfortunately Sprint/Nextel now offer the "Family Locator" service for $10/mo. and the "parent" phone MUST download software and have the added unnlimited txt service at an additional $5/mo as well. WHAT A RIP! I think AT has it right as this helps keep the user's costs down (already at $145/mo. without this new service).

Again, Respectfully

jmjii, thank you for the clarification!

F.Y.I. Sprint Network

by jmjii » Fri Jun 16, 2006 10:05 pm

Sprint primarily uses the CDMA network for most makes/models except for their newest "Smartphones" (i.e. Treo 700 etc...) where they now use the EVDO system for broadband connections, services and applications.

The answer is No because their network are still separate and use different technologies. Nextel: iDEN network. Sprint: GSM(?) network.

Yes, but will the Java enabled phones like the i415 work on the Sprint network?...........z
