Has anyone ever gotten an explaination from Nextel as to where all the bytes go? I have been using Accutracking with the 1meg Total connect for 6 months now, and loving it.

However, each month the bytes used end up being almost 1000 per send to the Accutracking server. The data sent would indicate abour 100 per send should be proper. When I first noticed this, I talked to Nextel support, and did not get any good explaination. I was concerned that I was running something in addition to Accutracking without knowing it. I still don't know what is up, but I love Accutracking and would go to 5 meg if my usage ever reaches a point that justifies it. It is just a nagging thing with me!
If 1000 is what it is, then so be it, but I would like to know where the extra bytes went.

I have a similar high data usage problem in my Nextel statement.

Each month my Nextel statement says I got 1.5 MB of data. From my calculation it is impossible to get that much data with no other application is running.

Assuming 100 bytes of data per call (60 bytes Accutracking + overhead), 5 minute interval, use 24 hours a day. Monthly usage should be :

100 x 12 x 24 x 30 = 864000 bytes

Even without SmartSend, the data is only 864 K. I could not understand how it gets to 1.5 MB with SmartSend on. My car is parked during the night although the phone is on all the time.

I complained about the high data usage to Nextel and get no good explanation. They said some of my data calls are retries and many are 1k length long and with variable lengths. They are unable to give me more details on each call.

How could Nextel see so much data?

Have you gone into the i88 and started the accutracking application? You must (1) set it up , then (2) if you turn the phone off you have to start it every time. Bmack

I have an i88s phone and my service will not load to the online page. I have downloaded all the info to the phone and i have acctivated total connect. Accutracking still does not work. Can someone help me?
