The cig. lighter charger is also 5 volts - standard USB output - the phone controls the charge status to the battery.

USB standard is like 500 mA - and its the charge amperage that controls the charge and use amount.

correction. I suspect the cigarette lighter adapter is like ".5v" not 5.0 like the wall adapter

So the tech folks say a i290 should run continuously plugged into a 12v nonswitched power supply.

The folks that sell battery saving devices say they won't.


the Battery is 3.7v. The wall adapter is 5.0v. Does anyone know what the usb cigarette lighter chargers are rated? I can't get a test prob in there to test. I suspect it a trickle like 5.v

It would make since if the phone is pulling more than the output of the adapter. If thats the case the I need to figure out a way to get 5.0v to the phone in the car.
